Object Manipulation

Posted in Uncategorized

I neglect this blog. But that’s ok, it’s not like anyone reads it, right?

Anyways, all summer I’ve been working, gaming, and watching anime. Not too bad, eh? Games that I’ve been playing are Counter-Strike: Source, Warcraft III (mostly DotA on US East Battle.net), Quake3, and I have a 30 day planetside trial. Planetside is ok i guess, but it can be boring. You see the same names all the time when playing so you come to realize that, unlike wow or eq2, there are only a handful of active players. It can be very empty late-night as well.

Object manipulation, right. I like flipping stuff around, and whatnot, as many people may notice. I’ve been spinning poi for over a year-and-a-half, and now I got something else that’s good for manipulating. A balisong (butterfly knife). Granted, it’s a cheap-o, I can master the basics. I’ll eventually get myself a nicer knife, since I need a decent knife for use as a tool (the butterfly is appealing vs. a lockblade since you can open and close with one hand quickly, plus play with it when bored!).

The Anime part:

  • Lucky Star - One of the best anime’s ever. It is really funny, and the OP is great (I HATED it the first time, but it grows on you really quickly).
  • Umisho - Funny ecchi anime about a school swimteam.
  • Hayate no Gotoku - Comedy about a kid who gets a massive debt to a rich girl and becomes her butler. Sounds lame until you realize that the girl (Nagi) is voiced by Rie Kugimiya - best voice actress ever - she did Shana and Louise (Zero).

Pulse Check.

Posted in blog

I didn’t forget about the blog, don’t worry. Nothing worth blogging about has come up in awhile though.

Lets see….

  • I am now employed
  • Relay For Life is next weekend
  • I decided that I am getting an HP laptop (17″ widescreen, core2duo, 2gb ram, 7600)
  • I have 18 school days remaining until graduation (though I may take a few extra off!)
  • I’ve been watching tons of anime lately… That needs its own section.

Ok, ok Anime:

  • Elfen Lied was AMAZING. It has to be the best anime that I have watched to date. It was really sad in parts, but had an amazing storyline. It was left wide open for a continuation of the story, but it aired in 2005, and there is no talk of a follow up (though there needs to be!).
  • Onegai Sensi (Onegai Teacher/Please! Teacher) was pretty good. It was a harem/romance/comedy, and it was great to kill time on saturday night between 11pm-1am when no one was doing anything
  • Bleach is going great, I’m current with it (ep. 125), and the story is getting good again (the Bountu filler was painfully boring).

Comment to recommend me good animes :)

The Oil Change

Posted in Uncategorized

They say that the third time is the charm. In a great number of cases this has been proven true. I have for you today, one more case of this.

My car does the job. It gets me where I want to go, when I want to go there. Sure, it is getting a bit old, but that doesn’t matter. Japanese cars are well designed to last long. I like driving it, and though it has been sounding a little off lately, it has been good to me. But, time to time, an oil change needs to be made. I can’t remember my last oil change, but it had to be more than 8 months ago. I needed one, and I really wanted to do it myself rather than pay someone to do it.

I talked to Derek, and he agreed to help me out with it, since I have next to no knowledge about what goes on under the hood of a car, and he has experience in that department. Oil changes are routine, so it couldn’t be that hard, right? Why did it take three attempts to do then? There is a good reason for that. Read More »

Atlanta

Posted in Uncategorized

Spring break, Wednesday through Sunday. I was on a trip with my robotics team to the national competition down in Atlanta, GA. It was a blast. So much happened that it would be hard to not write pages and pages, but this will be an attempt at summing it up a bunch.

Tube Core tutorial

Posted in Uncategorized

I wrote up a tutorial on making tube core wicks for fire poi today. I made derek and sean a set of tube cores last night when we were hanging out spinning fire. The tube cores are great wicks, and easy to make. I like spinning them a lot. But, I wont be spinning the tubes for long — Derek and I ordered some kevlar on Thursday and are going to make cathedral wicks. Bigger flames, and more burn time, w00t (I did order some extra kevlar for myself, and I think i’m going to make some “mini-tubecores” (2″ tall, vs. the 4″ tall ones that I use now, and derek and sean now have.)

Click here to see my tutorial. If you make them, remember to have fun, and be careful!

Back on the Blogscene

Posted in blog

Greetings to all of you taking the time to read this. After almost a year away from blogging/journaling, I have decided to take the plunge and give it another shot. I’ll get an “About” page up asap, so check that out if you would like to see info about me.

What kind of stuff can you guys expect to find here? Basically, I will post stuff related to my interests, activities that I participate in, School, my friends, etc. I will not go into my personal life too much though. I know that no one wants to read about my personal life. I know that I do not want to disclose every little personal detail of mine to people who I have not met. I may scratch the surface, but that will be all.

Subscribe to my feed, and check back here often. :D
