Michelle

Posted in stuff

This is a post about michelle, the coolest person ever.  She likes applesauce.  She doesn’t care for anime (yet), but that could change.  She likes Daft Punk now, and is going to see Justice with all of us.

She is strong willed, and according to matt, has a high vitality.  She likes three scoops on her heart cones (<333).  She somehow manages to spend tons of time on IRC without being a nerd (a very difficult thing to do).

Hmm, thats it for now,  hopefully you all go away knowing a little more about michelle.

Freshman classes suck.

Posted in stuff

Freshman year sucks when you’re a CS major… all classes for CS majors have higher math classes as pre/co-requisites. So my freshman year is:

First term:
* Pre-Calculus
* Composition 105
* Anthropology 100
* Philosophy 105

Second term:
* Calculus I
* Psychology 170
* Humanities 100
* Economics 201 (Macroeconomics)

My CycloDS Shipped!

Posted in stuff

Yay, mod-chip emailed me saying that they shipped my black CycloDS. I can’t wait to get it so I can mess with homebrew games and software. I plan on doing some DS dev stuff, not sure what (apps, games, etc), but I do want to do SOMETHING. Watch this blog ;)

Clannad - 52 Episodes?

Posted in anime

Clannad ep 6

One of my favorite anime this fall has been Clannad. It probably helps that I am both a Key fan, as well as a KyoAni fan. Key is known for their great visual novel stories (Kanon and Air being the most well known), and Clannad is no exception. Kyoto Animation (KyoAni) brought us Air TV (an anime adaption of Key’s Air), Kanon 2006, Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu, Lucky Star, and now Clannad.

Anyways, due to Clannad’s massive size (the visual novel’s script is longer than both Kanon and Air’s scripts combined) it seems that Clannad will run for 52 episodes, rather than the previously thought 24 episodes. This is great news to me, as I am really enjoying the show currently, and had some worries about whether the story could be told properly in the span of 24 episodes.

Some of my friends are going to be disappointed at this news though; KyoAni isn’t known to take on multiple projects at once, so this means the next Haruhi season/series won’t likely air until summer 2008.

Anime and winter break

Posted in anime

With finals over and winter break starting up I’ll have a chance to finish up some anime from the summer, as well as knock a few off of my to-watch list.

To finish:

  • Umisho - Just finished it.  It’s good if you want a shameless ecchi comedy with little plot (though the ending does wrap things up, and work out well).
  • Zero no Tsukamia Season 2 -  I enjoyed season one, and when school started I stopped watching ZnT S2 due to lack of time.  I also decided to wait until Ayu could sub it all the way through, rather than watching Your-mom’s subs (still good, but I’m more of an Ayu fan.  Good job on other stuff, YM).  I’ve seen up to episode 3 of season 2, and season 3 has been confirmed, so I had better watch 2.
  • Doujin Work - Almost done with this one.  If you want something funny to watch, this is a good one.  I wouldn’t really recommend it unless you’re somewhat of an otaku though.
  • Azumanga Daioh - Random, slice-of-life conversation anime.  Similar to Lucky Star but not as awesome.

To Start/watch:

  • Air Gear - Sean has been bugging me for awhile on this one;  I’ll admit it sounds like it could be good.  We’ll see.  This is “first priority” for watching (after stuff that currently airs - airing anime takes priority)
  • Fate/Stay Night - Watched one episode so far, heard good things about it
  • Green Green - Ecchi, comedy, a number of recommendations.  Might check it out soon.
  • For some strange reason Lucky Star keeps coming up in the back of my mind.  Thing is, I’ve already watched all the episodes, some twice.  Maybe a second complete runthrough could be fun, but it’ll have to wait, my backlog is about 10x longer than this post…

Thats just some of my anime related stuff to post about for today.  More general stuff coming tomorrow/soon.

CycloDS: stock = no.

Posted in stuff

I ordered a CycloDS Evolution for the Nintendo DS that I am getting for christmas.  The cyclods seems to have tons of really cool features,  and from all the reviews, is the best flashcart for playing homebrew games and backups.  Unfortunately, getting them is somewhat difficult, as it seems the manufacturer is unable to keep up with the demand.  My order placed over 2 weeks ago was backordered until Dec. 15 (today), but then upon checking mod-chip (the place I ordered from), the backorder date had been changed to Dec. 28.

CycloDS

 I really hope I get it before or right after christmas.  The whole reason I wanted a DS was for flashcart stuff (I want to make some homebrew software, play homebrew games, and yes… even roms).

Bacon Chocolate chip cookies

Posted in stuff

Matt linked me to this post about bacon chocolate chip cookies with a maple cinnamon glaze. The post itself is pretty funny, with things like:

Typically, I would never advocate the addition of meat to a sweet cookie, but I’ve always viewed bacon as “the candybar of meats” so I only felt slightly weird about it.

After reading it, though I’m really curious… would it really be good? I think I’ll make a batch sometime just to find out. If I ever do, I will surely post about how they came out, and if they are good.

I like CSS.

Posted in blog

CSS is cool. I restructured the html on my main site to be friendly for doing entire “rethemes” using only css. I have 2 themes currently, and a javascript theme switcher that uses functions borrowed from this article over at A List Apart. A List Apart is one of the best sites for learning about standards compliant web design and best practices. I highly recommend reading it, I have been reading it for years.

Back to the topic of CSS stuff, I want to use Sandbox-10 for my WP theme. I have it installed on this server, but I haven’t had the time to do a stylesheet for it yet. I’ll make a few good ones sometime soon.
